Dr. Chakameh Azimpour is an experienced leader with extensive experience in viral safety, analytical development, gene therapy, and quality control. She is currently serving as Director of Virology and Microbiological Sciences to develop and apply diverse scientific experience in microbiology and virology, partnering with R&D, Franchise, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams to support both new and existing Process Solutions products, particularly within the Downstream and Single Use and Integrated Platform Solutions portfolios. She provides technical consultation on microbiological testing strategies, mentorship, and support for product qualification, product and process change requests, raw material qualifications, and customer applications. Previously, Chakameh served as the Director of Analytical Development focused on characterizing AAV products, supporting in-process analytics, developing new analytical methods, and creating an automated, centralized workflow to enhance scalability, reduce costs, and streamline sample testing and process analytical support. Before that, she was a Senior Principal Scientist at Amgen, where she led the BioSafety Development team performing viral clearance assessment studies, and mycoplasma testing and oversaw the development and optimization of state-of-the-art viral and microbial testing strategies for both early- and late-phase programs. Beyond her work in the industry, she has also dedicated more than 12 years to mentoring, sharing her knowledge, and teaching both theoretical principles and practical skills at academic institutions. she holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology/Genetics from the University of Vienna. During her leisure time, she volunteers, enjoys reading, cooking, and baking, and cherishes moments with family and friends.
