Daniel Todt, PhD Ruhr University Bochum

Daniel Todt studied Bioinformatics at the University for Applied Sciences in Bingen/Germany and Biomedicine at the Hannover Biomedical Research School. For his PhD he joined the group of Prof. Eike Steinmann at the Institute for Experimental Virology at Twincore – Center for Experimental and Clinical Research in Hannover/Germany, where he worked on hepatitis E virus replication and the virus’ interplay with human host factors. To align his symbiotic core competences in virology and informatics, Daniel Todt early concentrated on the newly emerging field of virus informatics by joining the European Virus Bioinformatics Center in Jena/Germany. For his Post-Doc at the Ruhr University Bochum/Germany he investigated the hepaciviral intra-host evolution and transmission. As a group leader at the Department for Molecular and Medical Virology, he is currently setting up a new research group for Computational Virology. Daniel Todt published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter with a current h-index of 24 (March 2022).
