David Riesop, PhD AbbVie

With over a decade of experience in parenteral drug development focusing on container closure sciences, Dr. David Riesop currently serves as a Research Fellow and leads the Center of Excellence for Global Material and Parenteral Packaging Sciences at AbbVie. His expertise encompasses the full lifecycle of parenteral container closure systems (CCS), including CCS selection, qualification, commercial support, supplier management, and device connectivity. His team assumes holistic responsibility for parenteral CCS across all therapeutic areas at AbbVie, providing comprehensive support from early-phase development through late-phase and commercial products. He holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Duisburg-Essen and is active in the BioPhorum consortium as well as serving as a member of the Board of Directors for ELSIE.
