Jason Smith PE, MBA, PMP Barry-Wehmiller Design Group

For 25 years, Jason Smith has demonstrated his passion for constructing complex projects in the Life Sciences industry. He currently serves as Director at Barry Wehmiller Design Group where he is a leader for the firm’s Life Science market sector. He has been with Design Group since 2021, and is leading projects for Advanced Therapy CDMOs, and Biotech clients. Prior to Design Group, Jason spent several years with the industry’s leading companies, including Abbott Laboratories and Novartis Gene Therapies. Jason was the engineering site lead for asset lifecycle, where he led the maintenance and metrology teams, process engineers and served as an engineering point of contact for regulatory inspections. He has also held leadership roles in manufacturing, and led a project team for a nutraceutical greenfield expansion where Abbott received the 2017 “Plant of the Year” award presented by Food Engineering. Jason is a registered Professional Engineer, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University. He received an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and holds a PMP certification. Jason resides in the Chicago area with his family.
