Dr. Marcelo Brandão is graduated in Biology, Master and PhD in Sciences (Sanitary Surveillance). Professional with 20 years of experience in Quality Control, more specifically in Microbiological Control, mainly in microbiology and molecular biology areas. He has worked with Microbiological Control at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), working mostly with microorganism identification using methodologies such as VITEK® 2, MALDI-TOF MS and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. He has been working at Bio-Manguinhos for 5 years and has participated in projects related to analytical methodologies transfer of vaccines. Currently, he works with the development of new methodologies for the identification and typing of microorganisms, advises graduate and Pos-graduate students, and teaches Quality Control related courses in Post-graduation Programs at Fiocruz.
