Marcus Hompesch, MD Profil Institute for Clinical Research, Inc.

Dr. Marcus Hompesch is CEO, Chairman of the Board, and a founder of Profil Institute for Clinical Research, Inc. His career in clinical research and experimental studies for diabetes, insulin resistance and metabolism spans more than 25 years. At Profil Institute he has led the company since its inception in the U.S. in 2004 and has overseen its growth from a one-site clinical research facility to the leading early phase CRO focused on diabetes, obesity and NAFLD/NASH. Prior to establishing Profil Institute, Dr. Hompesch was a member of the founding team and COO of Profil Institute for Metabolic Research, GmbH.

Dr. Hompesch has served as principle investigator for nearly 60 early phase clinical research programs, including many of today's most prominent diabetes drugs and devices. He is an author on more than 80 peer-reviewed articles, as well as an editor and co-author of the textbook Translational Research Methods for Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiometabolic Drug Development, published by Springer in January 2015. He is a member of several life science scientific advisory boards and a member of the San Diego American Diabetes Association's Board. He is also a two-time finalist of Entrepreneur of the Year in San Diego County.
