Phillip Nixon, PhD Pfizer, Inc.

Dr. Nixon is Executive Director and Drug Product Technology & Innovation Lead for PharmaTherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences at Pfizer. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial & Physical Pharmacy from Purdue University after receiving a pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois. In his current role, Dr. Nixon provides leadership for development and execution of the PharmSci technology strategy and supports drug product technology scouting and oversight. He also works to expand Pfizer's open and external innovation efforts. Additionally, Dr. Nixon is the program lead for Pfizer's Portable, Continuous, Miniature & Modular (PCMM) development and manufacturing initiative for Oral Solid Dosages (OSD). He is a leader with a breadth of leadership experience and technical expertise spanning drug delivery, formulation/process development, packaging, outsourcing, licensing, discovery support, and analytical development across many dosage form types. Prior to assuming organizational leadership, Dr. Nixon supported solid oral dosage form development from design through transfer to commercial manufacturing, having particular expertise in HPMC-based, matrix controlled-release tablets.
