RUSTOM MODY, PhD A biotechnologist having experience of directing Biopharmaceutical programs for 4 multinational biopharmaceutical companies spanning over 36 years. He is Sr. Vice President and head R&D Biologics division of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd – a global pharmaceutical company. He was directly involved in the developed of recombinant Hepatitis B vaccine to its commercialization and for getting WHO approval of the vaccine. Previously he has handled wide-ranging operations during his tenure as Head of Research and Development / Manufacturing / Quality. He has developed various biotherapeutics, which includes vaccines, biosimilars and novel biologics for global markets. He holds the experience of creating an entire value chain from concept to their commercialization in India and other markets - for 14 biosimilars, 2 vaccines; 3 of which were ‘first-to-market’ and 3 biosimilars getting approved in EU and US. He is a President Elect of Parenteral Development Association (India Chapter), Ex-member of the Advisory Board of Indian Pharmacopoeia (for Biosimilars) and Ex-Expert Council Member of the United States Pharmacopoeia– Medicines Compendium. He has contributed to 2 review articles, 2 book chapters, 41 publications in peer-reviewed journals and filed 26 patents with 18 patents granted.
