GoodFellas: Hal Baseman and Stephan Roenninger are PDA’s Technical Fellows

by Walter Morris, PDA, Inc,

PDA has created the Technical Fellow role to expand opportunities for long-time members to contribute as the “voice” of PDA on specific topics. Hal Baseman, ValSource, Inc., has been named PDA Technical Fellow – Aseptic Processing, and Stephan Roenninger, Amgen (Europe) GmbH, has been named PDA Technical Fellow – Drug Supply and Shortage Management.

As the voice of PDA on these topics, Hal and Stephan will assist both staff and members alike on deliverables, such as articles, technical documents, conferences and workshops on their specific topics. Part of their role will be to help ensure views represented on behalf of PDA do not conflict with PDA’s strategy and prior written positions.

“I am very excited to have both of these individuals serve as our first PDA Technical Fellows,” said PDA President and CEO Glenn Wright. “Their deep technical expertise in their focus areas and long standing and active involvement in PDA make them excellent choices. I could not have been more pleased when they accepted the appointment.”

“The knowledge and experience of both our new Technical Fellows is a fantastic addition to the array of resources PDA can offer our members,” said PDA Sr. Director of Science and Regulatory Affairs Josh Eaton. “I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to continue working with and learning from them regarding their fields of expertise.”

Factors considered when selecting Stephan and Hal as fellows were:

  • The individual has substantial technical expertise in a given regulatory and/or specific technical area and is considered the foremost expert in the area.
  • The individual must be a longstanding industry member and longstanding member of PDA with a long history of active involvement in the PDA organization.

Both Hal and Stephan have served in a variety of volunteer roles for PDA, including on advisory boards, task forces, program chairs, speakers and the Board of Directors. Both have contributed to PDA technical reports and to regulatory comments and have published articles in the PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the PDA Letter. Hal also served as PDA’s volunteer Chair in 2014-2015 and is a trainer for the PDA Training and Research Institute.
