Kim Sobien

Back in 2010, I attended the 4th Annual "PDA Global Conference on Pharmaceutical Microbiology”, and being inspired, I handed my business card to Leon Lewis who worked at PDA and just said, ‘Hey, I’d love to help, let me know what I can do’.  The next year, I started my PDA volunteer journey as a member of the PDA Pharmaceutical Microbiology Conference Program Planning Committee.

Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to participate in numerous volunteer activities for PDA, including 10 years on the Microbiology Conference Program Planning Committee, being on committees for several workshops, writing technical reports, leading commenting efforts for USP chapters, participating in my local Southeast Chapter and so much more.  It’s been my absolute pleasure and privilege to be involved in PDA events at the local, national, and international levels throughout the years. To say PDA has been a key part of my career is an understatement, I value every single opportunity I’ve participated in, all the wonderful people I’ve met along the way who have become friends and/or co-workers, the priceless knowledge I’ve gained, and the experiences it has given me to enhance and bolster my career. I’m grateful to be a part of this organization and truly appreciate the recognition that comes with my award.
