Bernd Kraemer has been working in the Pharmaceutical Industry for the past 20 years. During his career at Roche, Bernd has held various positions in Technical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality in Germany and the US. Currently, he is the Head of Supplier Quality for the Americas Region at Genetech, responsible for GxP suppliers. He earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Stuttgart, Germany and an MBA from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

Abstract - "Outsourcing Challenges and Solutions for Success"

Managing supplier risks is a topic of high importance to the pharma/biomedical/device industry, given the implications of potential product stock outs, associated costs, and reputation damage. In this presentation, a holistic approach to the reduction of material/service related deviations utilizing communication, supplier capability, and formal risk assessments is discussed. This approach creates a win-win situation for both suppliers and customers by fostering mutual understanding and collaboration.
