Demetra Macheras MBA AbbVie

Demetra Macheras is currently the Director, Regulatory Policy and Intelligence at AbbVie. She identifies, assesses and coordinates comments on proposed regulatory policies for the U.S., Canada, ICH, and WHO regulatory environments, and ensures appropriate AbbVie personnel are aware of emerging and final regulatory policy. Demetra serves as the regulatory policy lead for the Regulatory CMC, Product Quality/GMP, Supply Chain Management, Labeling, and Electronic/Cloud-Based Submissions policy topics. She also provides regulatory and strategic support to global project teams. Demetra has over 27 years of industry experience and has held positions in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Operations Manufacturing, and Project Management. Demetra is also active in a number of external industry associations, including EFPIA, PDA, ISPE, and IQ Consortium. She is a member of the PDA Regulatory Affairs and Quality Advisory Board (RAQAB), the ISPE Regulatory Quality Harmonization Committee – North America region (RQHC NA) and has led the development of policy positions on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry. Demetra holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign and an M.B.A. from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
