Torsten Seuberlich is Associate Professor for Neuroscience at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern.

He graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover, Germany, and spent several years in private veterinary large animal practice. In 1999, he joined the Institute of Virology and Immunology in Mittelhaeusern, Switzerland to complete a doctoral thesis and a postdoc in veterinary virology.

In 2003, he moved to the University of Bern and established a research group in the field of prion diseases, with a primary focus on applications orientated research in TSE surveillance and atypical variants of BSE and Scrapie. In 2012, he was nominated Head of the National and OIE Reference Laboratories for BSE and Scrapie and appointed Expert for BSE and Scrapie by the International Animals Health Organization. Besides prion diseases, his research primarily focusses on virus discovery in neuroinfections diseases in ruminant livestock.
