Airflow visualization studies are used to observe airflow patterns, which can directly affect the sterility of a product. The results from these studies can be used to develop or improve filling protocols to ensure regulatory requirements are met. They can also be used as a training tool for personnel and as documentation for regulatory agencies to review.
In this training course, participants will discuss the components required in an airflow visualization study, such as intervention assessments, movement effects, regulatory requirements and facility design elements. They will learn how the concept of “first air” is related to product sterility and how unidirectional and turbulent airflow affects it. Participants will also learn how to incorporate these elements into a contamination control program emphasizing good aseptic technique and cleanroom behavior.
Participants will get the opportunity to develop a protocol, conduct an airflow visualization study and review their results. They will also learn how to visually document their study in a way that allows the viewer to understand the process at hand.
Please note that this training course has hands-on lab activities. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
- Develop a protocol to execute a comprehensive airflow visualization study
- Evaluate current facility for appropriate design and identify areas for process improvement
- Discuss regulatory requirements related to airflow visualization studies
- Implement a new training program to improve clean room personnel technique and behavior
- Solve problems associated with airflow visualization studies in barrier filling systems, such as RABS and isolators
