Ivar Kljavin has been with Genentech since 1994, first in a Research-Cell Biology Department for six years, and currently in the Quality Control Department.  In Research-Cell Biology, Ivar led a team and laboratory focused on developing cell-based methods for the discovery of novel therapeutic proteins and for transplantation uses.  Since 2000, Ivar has been in Quality Control.  He is the Director of an adventitious agent management function in a global QC department overseeing the governance and testing operations at South San Francisco, Oceanside and Singapore. The operation directly supports functional areas including manufacturing cell culture operations, development, raw materials and both clinical and commercial product manufacturing facilities for Roche ensuring adventitious agent risks are mitigated throughout a products full life cycle. The adventitious agent management program provides stewardship for the company’s programs related to adventitious agents safety assuring alignment on the strategic and tactical elements of such programs.  Ivar holds an M.S. degree from the University of Oregon in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Calgary.
