Thomas Unterkircher PhD Octapharma Biopharmaceuticals, Virus and Prion Validation GLP Study Director
Dr. Thomas Unterkircher acts as GLP study director at Octapharma’s Virus and Prion Validation department.
Thomas joined the department in 2017 as a scientist.
In his current role, he supervises virus validation studies for plasma derived medicinal products.
Furthermore, he is the responsible project leader for gene-technological matters and a subject matter expert for the Plasma Master File.
He oversees the assay development (NAT and infectivity based methods) and is responsible for virus and prion related matters concerning selected Octapharma products.
After Thomas’ master’s degree in molecular biology at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, he worked in brain cancer research receiving a PhD in molecular medicine from the University of Ulm, Germany, and a postdoc fellowship from the University hospital of Freiburg, Germany.
