Bona Benjamin American Society of Health-System Pharmacists

Bona Benjamin is the Director of Medication-Use Quality Improvement for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Coordinator of the Drug Shortages Web Resource Center. Before to ASHP, Ms. Benjamin practiced pharmacy for over 25 years in direct patient care, supervisory, and performance improvement roles, including eight years as a medication safety pharmacist at the National Institutes of Health. She received degrees in biology and pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and completed an executive fellowship in patient safety at Virginia Commonwealth University. Ms. Benjamin serves as staff lead for ASHP’s medication safety-related initiatives and coordinates development of ASHP pharmacy practice policy. She serves as ASHP’s external spokesperson and consultant to standards-setting, safety, regulatory, and accreditation groups on medication use safety, professional practice, and the role of the pharmacist in healthcare.
