Christina Carbrello, PhD Merck

Dr. Christina Carbrello is a senior scientist in Filtration R&D specializing in the relationship between membrane structure and performance with a particular focus on virus membranes and virus retention. In this role, she has completed studies to understand the relationship between plugging and retention with various feed streams in order to develop optimized membranes from aseptic to virus filtration.

Most recently, she has been involved in development of a novel upstream virus filter for cell culture media. Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Carbrello served as a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, studying two dimensional electrophoresis.

Dr. Carbrello earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
