Christine E. Farrance, Ph.D. Charles River Laboratories, Inc.

Dr. Farrance received a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, a B.S. in Biochemistry from Cornell University, and has more than 25 years’ experience conducting both applied and basic research using molecular, microbial, genetic, and biochemical techniques. Currently, as Senior Director of Scientific Affairs at Charles River Laboratories, Inc., she provides expert, professional, and scientific recommendations to aid in developing strategic directions and policies. She is a resource for customer interfacing teams, and leads the expansion of scientific capability and knowledge across the different groups in Microbial Solutions. She is also involved in coordinating research studies, and developing technical content for publications and presentations, and designing and implementing technical training. Before joining Accugenix / Charles River, Dr. Farrance was a scientist at a non-profit institute developing a plant-based production system for recombinant vaccines and protein therapeutics. Her work has also included research in the food safety industry, and in plant-based production systems for monoclonal antibodies as a Research Assistant Professor. In addition, Dr. Farrance has researched mechanisms of DNA transformation of plant cells, the stability of recombinant viruses expressing antigens on their protein coats, and been part of a team developing a plant-based production system for antibodies recognizing drugs of abuse to be used in drug treatment. Dr. Farrance brings unique scientific and technical experiences to Charles River. Her main hobby is training and competing with her border collies in the sport of dog agility.
