Davide Scaglione, PhD Merck KGaA

Davide Scaglione earned his PhD in Plant Genetics at University of Turin after having completed a Master Degree in Agricultural Biotechnology in the same faculty. During his research on plants, he mastered many technologies in the field of genetics, genomics and sequencing, working in non-model species for which most resources were lacking.  After his PhD, he spent one year in Davis (California) at the Genome Center, continuing his research and collaborating with others in one of the most advanced sequencing center.

His research lead to many publications in peer-reviewed journals. After, he worked for five years as Bioinformatics Operation Manager in an Italy-based sequencing provider center, stimulated by cutting-edge technologies and the possibility to apply them in several experimental scenarios. Now, recently onboarded in Merck, he is heading the Advanced Sequencing Technologies Lab (Center of Innovation) and developing applications for biosafety and cell line characterization and development.
