Edwin van den Heuvel, PhD Eindhoven University of Technology

Edwin van den Heuvel studied mathematics at the University of Amsterdam. He received his PhD in mathematical statistics in 1996 from the same university. He has worked six years for the consultancy firm IBIS UvA BV as a professional statistician and eight years for the pharmaceutical company MSD as a statistical manager. He then returned back to academia where he became a full professor in medical statistics at the University of Groningen and four years later a full professor in statistics at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He has held adjunct professorship positions at McMaster University and Boston University and he is a member of the statistics expert committee of the United States Pharmacopoeia and European Pharmacopoeia. His research focuses on the development of statistical methods for the analysis of complex structured data sets and he is an expert in statistics for microbiology.
