Elaine Sartain STERIS Corporation

Elaine Kopis Sartain is the Vice President of Marketing and Technical Services for the Life Sciences Division of STERIS Corporation, manufacturer of contamination control and prevention equipment and products.  Her responsibilities include guiding the development, portfolio management, and technical support of STERIS’ Contamination Control Solutions offerings. This portfolio includes microbial control solutions, pharmaceutical detergents, biological and chemical indicators, and barrier systems to support sterilization processes.

Prior to her current position, Elaine held the position of Sr. Director Technical Services for the Life Sciences Division of STERIS, where she led the development of the Technical Services Team, and focused as a subject matter expert on microbial control in cleanrooms. Elaine has lectured globally and has numerous publications on effective cleanroom microbial control practices. Additionally, prior to joining STERIS, Elaine held positions in both Quality and Technical Services with ConvaTec, a division of Bristol-Myers Squibb, and with Calgon Vestal Laboratories, a division of Merck & Co., Inc.

Elaine is a member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology, where she has participated in review and development of standards, such as ISO TC 209, Cleanrooms and other associated controlled environments, and the Parenteral Drug Association, where she has developed and delivered several training programs and publications.  She has a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University, and has over 30 years of experience in the areas of pharmaceutical equipment cleaning and cleanroom microbial control.
