Jeffrey Blue Merck and Company, Inc.

Jeffrey T. Blue has been at Merck and Co. Inc for the last 22 years and currently is the Director of Vaccine Drug Product Development.

Jeff has played major roles in the development of three marketed lyophilized vaccines while at Merck and was active in their technology transfer to manufacturing. He co-authored a book chapter on process scale-up and optimization of lyophilized vaccine products. Jeff currently oversees the development of both early and late stage vaccines programs at Merck and is actively supporting life-cycle management of marketed vaccines. Additionally, Jeff's department is engaged in novel technology development to advance Merck's biologics and vaccine pipelines.

Jeff is an active participant in implementation of QbD into vaccine drug product development and was a member of an industry wide consortium to publish a vaccine case study utilizing QbD and was co-author on a book chapter around applicability of QbD for Vaccine Drug Product Development.

Jeff has worked across different vaccines including live virus, subunit, DNA, and conjugated vaccines. He has supported early phase formulation development for therapeutic proteins and developed multiple formulations for high concentration formulations for TPs in both liquid and lyophilized forms.

Jeffrey received BS degree in Biology with a concentration in genetics and biochemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh followed by completing a MS degree in Biochemistry from Lehigh University
