Jeffrey Brake, PhD W.L. Gore & Associates

Jeff Brake has a ten-year track record of developing new technologies and products for the biopharmaceutical market. In his current role as project manager for the development of a novel silicone-free plunger, he has been instrumental in transforming the vision of a silicone-free glass pre-filled syringe into reality. Jeff is leading a large cross-functional team through the development of this product using a design control process. He has provided leadership in all aspects of development from raw material supply to industrialization of the plunger process to evaluation of the plunger in drug product trials.

Prior to his current position, Jeff developed filtration membrane technologies and devices with step-change performance for drug substance bioprocessing applications. In this role, he had the opportunity to develop new materials, characterization techniques, and test equipment for an exciting emerging business platform.

Jeff earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. He holds 5 patents and has authored 11 papers spanning diverse fields such as protein stability, filtration, and liquid crystalline materials.
