Jon Petzing, PhD Loughborough University

Jon Petzing (PI) is the Senior Lecturer in Metrology at Loughborough University within the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical & Manufacturing Engineering.

His research involves; biometrology, dimensional metrology, surface metrology, optical metrology, acoustic metrology, and metrology standards, within High Value Manufacturing Engineering and Healthcare Technology.

His work is concerned with measurement of instrument development and design, industrial integration, measurement confidence, and involvement in standards and metrology guides, resulting in over 150 scholarly articles.

He has developed research specifically examining variation of starting material for Haematopoietic Stem Cell (HSC) therapies as a precursor for biomanufacturing, and is currently investigating variation in biometrology – specifically Flow Cytometry, to inform biomanufacturing process control. He currently a member of the British Standards Institute Biotechnology Committee.
