Lia Jeffrey, PhD Genentech, Inc.

Lia Jeffrey is a Senior Manager of the Global Biologics QC Methods Management and Technology (MM Tech), Microbiology group at Genentech in South San Francisco, CA. In this role, she leads a group of subject matter experts who establish state of the art technology, standards for assay development, optimization, and validation, and drive consistency across QC Microbiology sites within the Roche/Genentech network. In 1999, Lia started her career at Pfizer in Andover, MA where she held positions in the QC Microbiology lab and QC Microbial Science and Technology department until 2010. She then joined EMD Millipore in Bedford, MA as a Microbiological Scientist until 2014 when she joined Genentech as a Senior QC Scientist.

Lia has over 15 years of Microbiology experience in QC and R&D where she's focused on microbiological method development and validation, instrument qualification, new technology evaluation for rapid microbiological methods, and has presented on the effects of processing parameters and microbial attributes on the retention of microorganisms in processing filters. Lia holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts and University of New Hampshire.
