Maridalia Torres Irizarry FDA

Maridalia Torres is the Director of the Food and Drug Administration's San Juan District Office and part of ORA’s Senior Management Staff.

She began her career with the Food and Drug Administration as Consumer Safety Officer in 1990, and was promoted to Drug Specialist in 1996 and Pre-Approval Program Manager for San Juan District in 1999. She was selected as Supervisory Investigator in 2002, with oversight of the drugs, biological monitoring, and mammography program areas, served multiple extended details as Acting Director of Investigations Branch and was promoted to fill that position in October 2005. One year later, Maridalia became District Director for the San Juan District Office and since then has had oversight of the agency's overall operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Maridalia serves as Vice Chair of ORA's Field Drug Committee and has served as SME in various agency initiatives.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus in 1979.

Among other honors and awards, Maridalia has been the recipient of multiple Group Recognition Awards, FDA's Award of Merit, the Secretary's Award for Distinguished Service, FDA's Outstanding Service Award, the Commissioner's Special Citation, and ORA's Leveraging/Collaboration Award.
