Nynke Brouwer, PhD Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board

Nynke Brouwer has studied Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at Leiden University (the Netherlands) and graduated in 1999. She then went on to work for several pharmaceutical companies in the Leiden area, before taking on a position of Quality Assurance Officer at Centocor (now Janssen Biologicals) in Leiden.

In 2003, she started her Ph.D. at Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia) at the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, where she worked on natural product isolation and characterisation of compounds from Australian native plants. She successfully defended her thesis in 2006. Moving back to Europe, she started working at the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in Bilthoven (the Netherlands) as an assessor of chemical-pharmaceutical products. In 2011, she continued this job at the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen) in Utrecht. In this position, she has been involved in the assessment of mostly chemical substances and related products (innovative and generics), but has also taken on assessing monoclonal antibodies and Antibody-Drug Conjugates in 2016. Since 2016 Nynke is also involved as external expert in the Certification of Substances Division of the EDQM in Strasbourg.
