Robert R. Nesbitt AbbVie, Inc.

Bob Nesbitt is Director, Portfolio Strategy in AbbVie’s Combination Product Development group.

He joined AbbVie in 2015 and led the Human Factors group until 2020. Prior to AbbVie, he spent 16 years at Eli Lilly and Company, where as Director of Advanced Development, he built patient-centered design into the early concept development for new devices. His team led the design of 9 different Lilly delivery devices used around the world supporting multiple Lilly therapeutics.

Prior to Lilly, he led process engineering and manufacturing for Roche Diagnostics’ blood glucose monitoring and Baxter Healthcare’s custom sterile operating room procedure pack business.

He is a co-editor of the 2020 Springer book "Development of Biopharmaceutical Drug-Device Products". He has been active in development of ISO standards for medical devices since 1999, as an Expert on a number of committees, Convenor of many Working Groups, and Co-Chair of the US ISO Technical Advisory Group. In January, he was elected the 2022-2024 Chair for the ISO Technical Committee (TC) 84, responsible for ‘Devices for Medicinal Administration and Catheters'.

Bob has a BS in Engineering Operations from Iowa State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
