Susanne Richter, PhD Sandoz GmbH

Dr Susanne Richter is responsible for downstream process development and validation of biopharmaceuticals and biosimilars derived from mammalian cell culture at Sandoz Biopharmaceuticals, Schaftenau/Austria. She is an expert in process development and characterization following the QbD concept. She participates in several tech transfers to manufacturing scale, establishes high throughput screening methods in DSP development and implements LEAN concepts. Before joining Sandoz in 2008, Susanne was a group leader of DSP development at Cytos Biotechnology AG in Zurich-Schlieren/Switzerland. In this function, she was responsible for the DSP development of a new class of vaccines, the process scale-up and transfer. She contributed to several patent applications. Dr. Richter started her professional career in 2001 at QIAGEN Ltd., where she gained experience in the installation und qualification of a pilot plant and the development of microbial processes for production of enzymes for diagnostic applications.

Dr. Richter holds a M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Technical University of Braunschweig/Germany and a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of Halle-Wittenberg/Germany (2001).
