Join the 15th Anniversary Edition of the PDA Virus Conference
Modernizing Viral Safety & Advancing Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
On behalf of the Scientific Program Planning Committee and PDA, we are delighted to invite you to the 15th-anniversary edition of the PDA Virus Conference 2025, taking place in person on 24-25 June 2025 in Gothenburg, Sweden. This year’s conference is part of an expanded week-long event, beginning with a PDA-hosted workshop on the PDA ICH Q5A R2 Essentials: Training and Practical Applications Workshop 2025 on 23 June 2025 and followed by the PDA Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products Conference 2025 on 26-27 June 2025, all at the same venue.
This global meeting has been developed in close collaboration with a distinguished Scientific Program Planning Committee, bringing together regulators from the EU and U.S., global industry experts, supplier specialists, and PDA Europe support staff. The 2025 program will focus on the modernization of viral safety for biologics and the evolving landscape of sustainable biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Key Topics
- Viral Safety of Biopharmaceuticals: Addressing regulatory expectations and industry implementation of ICH Q5A(R2)
- Advanced Pathogen Detection: Exploring industry capabilities for early pathogen detection
- Best Practices: Viral inactivation, filtration, and removal techniques
- Risk Mitigation Strategies: Innovative approaches to manufacturing safety
In addition to a robust scientific agenda, the conference will feature interactive elements designed to foster engagement and knowledge exchange. Case studies from leading biopharmaceutical companies will provide valuable insights into real-world applications of viral safety strategies. Regulatory updates from agencies such as the U.S. FDA and European Pharmacopeia will ensure that attendees remain informed on the latest expectations and developments. The program will also include interactive sessions such as a live questionnaire, expert panel discussions, and roundtables on virus testing, exploring the latest strategies for implementation of next-generation sequencing, alternative strategies for viral safety of ATMPs, continuous manufacturing and the use of platform data.
Why Attend?
- Premier Industry & Regulatory Forum: Direct interaction with regulators and industry leaders
- Cutting-Edge Knowledge: Insights into emerging risks, novel technologies, and regulatory strategies
- Networking & Collaboration: Engage with global experts shaping the future of viral safety
Following the success of the PDA Virus Conference 2024, the PDA Virus Conference 2025 will continue to serve as a premier forum for direct interaction between industry and regulators. With engaging discussions, networking opportunities, and thought-provoking presentations, this event will provide a platform to explore emerging risks, novel technologies, and regulatory strategies that are shaping the future of viral safety in biopharmaceuticals.
We look forward to welcoming you to Gothenburg for an enriching exchange of knowledge and expertise.
See you in June 2025!
Best regards,
Chakameh Azimpour, Merck KGaA
Sean O’Donnell, Eli Lilly and Company
